Asset registry
All major items of equipment are assetted on their arrival at RGC's premises.
The default register consists of a spreadsheet containing 30 items, described by manufacturer, type, company asset number (as available) and manufacturer's serial number.
Variations on this format are agreed with customers, including on-site assetting prior to transportation.
Registers are given a unique number, forwarded electronically to the customer and retained by RGC for a minimum of three years
Asset tracking
Asset tracking is offered but, noting that the target turn-around of equipment is a few days, is probably only relevant for equipment held in quarantine.
This feature mainly applies to base units, laptops etc. recently cleared from the desktops which may hold data. The quarantine period, during which no work is done to the base unit/laptop and it is held in a secure store, is typically two weeks and during this time a unit can be located and returned to customer.
RGC is able, using statistical methods, to indicate the percentages of re-use, recycling and landfill contained in a clearance. This is typically given to certain customers on a monthly basis.
Software inventory
Customers may require an inventory of the software loaded onto a base unit or laptop which has been disposed of.
